Italy fines Apple €10 million over false claims that iPhone is water resistent

Italian regulators fined Apple 10 million euro for claiming for several years that its iPhones can withstand being submerged in depths ranging up to 4 meters, for up to 30 minutes. The agency said Apple didn’t make it clear this was only under laboratory conditions not common elsewhere. They also criticized Apple for not providing support when user’s phones were damaged by water or other liquids.

Be weary of software updates on older phones. Phone companies have been known to bog down older model phones, incentivizing you to buy new.

Knocked my iPhone into a fountain put it in a bag of rice overnight and it started right up. My friend did the same thing with his new Galaxy. He bought a new phone three days later. This case had no merit. But I did hear that Apple is discontinuing sales, service and support for Italy, so way to go. Should make Italians happy👍.

10 million? Ouch! Obviously their claims failed to hold water.
