Scotland leader says she could seek independence referendum next year

Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s First Minister, said she would campaign in the May 2021 election for a mandate for a referendum on independence from the UK ’in the early part of the new parliament,’ which will run from 2021 to 2025. Scotland voted to remain in the UK in a 2014 referendum, before Brexit. A new vote would require the UK government’s nod. UK PM Boris Johnson said he won’t approve it.

No she couldn't because despite her endless crowing, she does not have the authority to make that call. Furthermore, she has no sense of timing or appropriateness. And that's without her perjuring herself over the Alex Salmond debacle.

I don't blame her for bringing this up again after the "brexit" debacle, she is trying to save Scotland from the sinking ship.

Good on Borris for not giving into this lunatic idea. I know the EU may hold new referendums until they get the results they want but the UK does not and should not.

Is this a move to attempt to get out of the UK only to join the EU? Seems like that would make the situation far more awkward and complicated then it already is

I thought that after the last failed referendum it was stated that another couldn't be called for 50 years.
