Arizona ex-official sentenced for ’baby selling enterprise’

A former public official in Arizona has been sentenced by a federal judge to six years in prison for his role in orchestrating a human smuggling scheme. The scheme involved luring pregnant women to the US from the Marshall Islands in order to profit from their newborn babies. Paul Peterson had served as Maricopa County Assessor until his resignation earlier this year.

Six years... for human trafficking... Jfc, really shows how little babies, born or otherwise, are valued by this government, huh?

I think the guy should not be imprisoned for this as it was a non-violent crime. Details on the sentence also include: [expand] "As part of his plea agreement, Petersen agreed to pay $679,000 in restitution and fees. That includes $650,000 to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, $18,000 to the Attorney General's Office and $11,000 to the adoptive family he overcharged."

Let all who would bring negativity like this to children be thrown into the river with a millstone attached to their neck.
