California boy, 11, shoots himself dead during Zoom online class

An 11-year-old California boy fatally shot himself during a Zoom virtual class while his microphone and camera were off, authorities said. The boy was found with a head wound at a home in Woodbridge, in Northern California’s Central Valley. Authorities said the boy, later identified as Adan Llanos, died at a hospital from a ’self-inflicted’ injury. They are now probing how the boy got the gun.

Probing how the boy got the gun, but nothing on the conditions that would drive a boy of this age to suicide. Suicides are on the rise globally as a result of covid restrictions. Children are at more risk by being locked away than they are going to school and receiving a substantially better quality of education (although still too low in public schools). The socialization is critical for young people and the risk to their health and the teachers health is extremely minimal and lower than their risks during the average flu season. There is no excuse for confining these children and removing their social interactions.
