US reports highest number of daily COVID-19 deaths since April

The US reported the highest number of deaths since April over a 24 hour period on Wednesday. Nearly 2,700 deaths were recorded, which has now taken the death toll from the virus to 279,867. The grim figure comes as new hospital admissions went past the 100,000-mark. Robert Redfield, Director of the CDC, said he expects the death toll to rise to between 400K-500K before February 2021.
